This video is a compilation of time-lapses I have shot for 1day6cities, a global collaboration project that took place on 11.11.2011. Collaborators from London, Dubai, Shanghai, Auckland, San Francisco and Sao Paulo created a unique twenty-four hour
snapshot of this day across six very different cities around the globe. My intention in participating in the creation of this project was to explore time-lapses as a medium that can be considered as both photography of naturally occuring events, and animation used inan unnaturally fast-moving manner, synonymous with urban lifestyle. The time-lapse videos and stills from them will be shown together in a series of six exhibitions in 2012, one in each of the cities.

In the summer of 2010, I spent a month travelling around Indonesia and Singapore. One thing about Singapore that I found very overwhelming was how incredibly modern and clean it was. I think it is amazing when a city can blow your mind just by the way it looks and its building structures. The immense diversity in this city makes this stand out even more: everywhere you go looks different, but everything is still kept very structured and clean.

The images shown were taken at the Marina Bay, a bay in the southern part of Singapore east of the Downtown Core.

In early 2011, Daniel Pattison asked me to work creating a series of Live Session videos. A series of four tracks were recorded at Somethinelse by Jamie Williams and myself.
The four tracks were recorded using a multiple-camera setup of five Canon 5D Mark II cameras, recording at 1080P/25fps. This included three stationary cameras, in combination with two operated cameras on a dolly and a shoulder mount. After Nick Read mastered the tracks, the footage from the five cameras was synchronised with the audio, edited, and colour graded in Final Cut Pro 7."Daniel Pattison is a musician originally from Reading, now based in London. Daniel makes modern folk music, taking influence from traditional folk, American indie, modern classical and the singer songwriters he grew up with such Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Joni Micthell and Roy Harper. Daniel plays live with a trio (oboe, cello, backing vocals).

Hidden Treasures is series of three posters created as part of a brief showcasing some of the works contained at the Central Saint Martins Museum and Study Collection. The aim of the project was to create posters for three items, using photographs taken by other students with their own cameras. This created the limitation of not having control over the composition, depth of field, focus, sharpness and quality of the images to be used for the outcome. In order to work around this limitation and to showcase a variety of elements of the items, I decided to create a mixture of a digital and a traditional collage: The process entailed a cycle of printing, collaging, and re-photographing of print-outs, which added structure to the images and provided the three outcomes with a common format. The burning of parts of the physical collage was used both as a compositing tool, as well as to visually emphasise the idea of the items being old treasures.

Mount Merapi vulcano near Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The photographs were taken a few weeks before its most recent eruption in October 2010."Merapi is the youngest in a group of volcanoes in southern Java. It is situated at a subduction zone, where the Indo-Australian Plate is subducting under the Eurasian Plate." (Source)Merapi is a very mythical place that is very important to the Javanese, especially those living around the crater. Even though this area is condemned to be a hard place to live at, locals stay and keep a very simple life.

Original Copy is a typeface and specimen poster created with the need to duplicate the product in mind. The typeface is based on one of the most criticised fonts, Comic Sans, as I think that its odd geometry and “accuracy” does not reflect its supposedly handwritten style.A black marker was used to loosely retrace the typeface, after which the letters were digitised, making sure that details of inaccuracies caused by the marker or the hand would not be lost. The specimen poster showcasing the font was layed out and perforated to be used as a Letraset-type sheet.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7006/1556684/comicset_1140.jpg">
The use of perforations makes it possible to easily separate the lower half of the poster to be used as a standalone A3 size poster with the type from the top half set inside the speech bubble.

Gsus Lopez is a fashion enthusiast from Spain, who has lived in Barcelona and London over the past few years. He is currently studying a BA in Fashion Media at London College of Fashion.The portraits below are results of an experimentation with the arrangement of studio flashlights and projected images.The silhouette coming from a rear flash provided the slick look, the projected images provided the colour and the screen door effect from the projection provided the structure intended.

This project is a book cover concept for an unpublished series of short stories called "Fractures from Anxiety". The design was created as part of a typographic brief set by Phil Baines on the Graphic Design BA course at Central Saint Martins.The aim was to create a book cover based on a specific set of guidelines, in accordance with the Penguin series of books. The imagery on the front and back ties in with the sombre mood of the short stories, using image noise to visually represent anxiety.
A simple layout and clear composition of the book cover's elements gives more emphasis to the background image. The word anxiety was used to visually connect the front and back when turning the book cover in your hand to read the book description.

Boxes is a digital clock representing the time of day with the use of deliberate pixelisation of timed videos. Short video clips of 1-2 minutes were shot at different times of the day, one clip for each of the 24 hours. The edited pixelated versions of the clips are looped in the background of the clock, automatically changing every hour through an HTML5 video canvas controlled by JavaScript. The actual digits of the image-based clock, also running on JavaScript, integrate with the boxes the pixelated video forms.The outcome reduces the moving image to simple squares, showing how the environment changes in terms of brightness and colour in relation to the time of day. The images below are screenshots of what the clock looks like at different stages.
